| Planted cereal rye last week of September. Still waiting for this stuff to be tall enough to go graze with the herd (I would like to see the plants 6 inches). All I keep hearing is this stuff is supposed to grow like gangbusters (see title). Definitely growing out there, but doesn't look as good as my neighbor's barley planted a little later. I plan on grazing it heavy starting 3d week of march. Ground is heavy clay, very sticky, worried right now cows hooves will just pull it out of the ground (wet). Anyone have any experience with when rye starts to pop off? I assume green bloom in April? Thanks all. | |
