South Texas | I would be expanding if I had the grass. Feeders are still high. Cows here are cheap, due to the lack of forage. I’m making $700 per head now. Wasn’t that long ago a calf only brought $700. If you’re not making good money in cow/calf now, get out. The cow herd here is still shrinking, once it turns wet and we grow a bunch of grass, cows will double in price. Bred heifers currently are selling at a loss. | |
