McCanna, ND | Borrowing money to buy cows probably doesn’t pencil very well. Pay yourself the 5-10% interest by using your own money. Need to be cheap producer and bonus points for value added. Never been to Ohio but from what I see on here rain and mud are problems. Loafing shed would be as fancy as I would go for barns, get them out of the rain wind and sun while keeping air movement. A hay wrapper and wet hay might be the ticket for your climate. I only lost 10% feed value on my hay stored outside and carried over for a year, I can live with that on $80/ton hay. Keeping feed costs low is important, better/cheaper to buy better quality hay then range cubes or mixes from the feed store. | |
