NE IL | What does the hay market look like in your area as we head into the second half of winter? There aren’t many dairy farms or cattle guys left in my area of northeast Illinois. We had dairy cows up until 2003 and now just make small squares on 40 acres to sell mostly to horse people. Facebook is full of people asking who has hay for sale and there are very few responses. We’ve been selling nice alfalfa/grass mix small squares for $8 but should probably raise the price to $10+ for what we have left. | |
