NE IA | Been kicking around the idea of building a barn in the some what near future. I am a backgrounder and honestly that is where my passion in the cattle industry is. I generally will bring in 5wts +/- 50# and feed for 150 days. So my thoughts are adding a 50x160 barn. Splitting it into 3 pens and should be able to get away with putting 80hd in per pen. Now my thinking is since I am bringing smaller calves in and generally speaking bunk space will be what limits me vs pen space has anyone ever put bunks on both sides of the barn vs only on one side? Also thinking about adding a 16' scrape alley to the front of it just for ease of bedding and cleaning especially becasue I am a one man show until my kids get a little bigger. Just kicking around ideas on what would work and seeing if anyone else has any input. | |
