North Central Iowa | Here is what I have done. In the attached file, Column A is where you enter the month and day. The cells in that column are formatted as text. As mentioned earlier, go into the number properties under the Home tab, and in the Number tab, set the type to Text. Cell C1 in the example below is where you enter the year you want it to be when entering. In Column B, like in cell B3, you can see the formula for combining what is in Column A (month and day) with the value in C1 (year) to get the desired format of mm/dd/yyyy without having to enter the year. The cells in column B are formatted as Date with the mm/dd/yyyy option.
Once everything is in, you can copy what is in Column B and paste into a new column. When you go to paste it, paste with the option of Paste Values instead of Formulas. Then you have a new column in the correct date format, and then remove the 2 original columns. Yes it takes a few more steps at the end, but still saves the time of entering in the year for every entry.
