Subject: RE: Is terrain compensated system important?

I don't believe terrain compensation is important when collecting boundaries. If you can place your antenna right at the corner post of the field, there is no reason to need terrain compensation. In fact, I believe it would throw off your point. Terrain compensation is important if the antenna is 12' in the air on the top of a tractor cab. For example, if your tractor is traveling along a slope that tilts your cab to the left 15 degrees, your antenna moves over to the left roughly 3' due to being so high off the ground (if my math is correct that is....), However, the wheels in on the tractor do not move over 3', they stay in the same point in relation to the line you are driving on. Mapping boundaries, in my opinion, is best with a ATV/UTV where you can make sure you put that antenna right on the boundary.
