| Depends on what works for you. I have a farm account; a shop account and we have a joint personal account. We are both on all the accounts if checks need written or whatever. It works well for us.
I have a friend who could never make a joint account work with his wife. She always accused him of trying to control her money and spending (which is a problem) so they have separate accounts. She gives him her portion of the monthly bills and the rest is hers to do as she wishes.
