Subject: RE: Feeding 50 Feeder Cattle

NC Indiana
We feed 35-40 head of home raised beef bred calves in j bunks with a neck rail with a pitchfork and 5 gallon buckets. Aim for 10# of grass hay per head per day and 12# of a cracked corn/pellet mix (14%) - custom mixed at a local feed mill our corn. Also have silage available. When we feed that we drop the hay to 5# and work up to 8# of silage. Dairy bred we've fed snaplage silage, and byproducts. Local guy use to feed 300 pairs and finish their calves with a couple old manure spreaders, skid loader, and a cement pad.
