MN | Agtalk has become like a bunch of Orange County Soccer Moms where "feelings" are more valid than simple statistics.
We are extremely fortunate to live in the safest, most prosperous time humans have ever known. Our risk of being attacked is near nil. We live longer, have better, safer food, better medications and health care. We can travel anywhere in the world in less than two days. Severe weather is forecasted so far out that the problem is not the weather, but people ignoring the warnings.
It's only the fact that we aren't made to process the information spewed at the rates of social media, network news, and our instant communication methods that cause this weird fear of the time we live in.
"But, but, but this and that and that" is what I hear all the time in response. Well, we screwed up Eden a long time ago, the world we live in never will be like it, but it's a lot better than it used to be. | |
