Subject: Dead calf from 6’ Johnson grass?

Texas
Yesterday I fed cattle, 5#/head weevil ruined wheat (my favorite free cattle feed) while I was there I noticed a heifer walking the fence raising cane, she finally came and ate before it was gone and quickly took off. I counted calves and sure enough 1 short and hers is very unique looking (bull issue). I got on the gator and went looking around and found her calf dead in a train right of way that’s has 6’ Johnson grass where I took the gravel and rock for my driveway. It’s fenced off with some oats I’ll graze later. , but it’s a “suggestion” fence and I’ve seen some of the cows in there lately.

I thought Johnson grass was pretty safe when it was that big. We had stress earlier in the season, but after some rain it all shot up. I have hot wire and the calves go under until they are about 500 and eat Johnson grass in the ditch all the time. This one was about 400 or so. Safe to assume Johnson killed it or is there any other worries? It’s been 90 so he’s swoll up already but not stinky.
