De Forest, WI

boog - 10/14/2023 15:21 I use to take Aleve for back pain for years. Developed a bleeding ulcer in my stomach., Dr said it was from the Aleve, & only take Tylenol .,Quit taking Aleve & in 3 months the back pain returned. Went to a back specialist, diagnosed with degeneration of the discs, curvature of the spine & arthritis. Dr said about the only thing that would help was Aleve, also said it takes 3 months for Aleve to get out of your system. Danged if you do & danged if you don't.

Try consuming more foods and drinks that have a natural anit-inflammatory effect.  These include green veggies like broccoli, spinach, etc.  High fat nuts like almonds, cashews, etc. Start drinking lots of black tea instead of sugared soda.  Cut out as much processed sugar in things you consume as you can.  Natural sugars in things like Berries are ok for inflammation and berries have a lot of anti-oxidants which helps reduce inflammation.

If you can switch to black teas made sure you don't add sugar as a sweetener.  Drink it black, either hot or cold.  If you need a little more flavor add a slice of lemon or lime (or both).  It will take a month or two to notice the improvements.

If the inflammation is due to an anatomical issue (nerve is actually pinched) then that will need to be addressed before the inflammation will be fully brought under control.  If the inflammation is more autoimmune, like arthritis. then consuming large amounts of antioxidant type foods can really help keep it under control.  Then NSAIDs can be reserved for flairs and when its really needed.  NSAIDs for a couple days or a week to get inflammation under control and then rely on diet is a lot better than constant NSAIDs.  It is also better to use enteric coated NSAID tablets.  They don't get released until the active ingredient is in the intestine vs the stomach.  They take much longer to become active, but much lower risk of ulcers with a prolonged amount of pain relief (Gets released slower into your system so it takes longer to clear).

Good luck.  I drink a lot of black tea in the winter instead of sugar free soda like Bubbl'r and Zevia.  Maybe 32-64oz per day of black tea.  I don't like coffee.  The upside is the caffeine from tea sticks around longer as their are compounds in tea that slows the bodies metabolism of caffeine.  So the pick me up lasts longer.
