I didn't have anything much to add to the nearsighted and astigmatism problem. I have them both for all of my life. Only thing I heard from one eye doctor is he believed wearing glasses all the time made the problem not get better. His advice was using vision without glasses part of the time to make the eyes not dependent on the glasses. But I have no idea how well that works or if his advice is good.

Here is a link to the doctor you mentioned interviewing a guy that talks about macular degeneration. I have listened to him numerous times but I don't ever recall listening to her. Will give it a go.
