C TX | Like you guessed, by default attaching a projector will put the computer in the extend version, meaning you gain a second desktop. Windows button and P button hit together is the shortcut to change between the different versions. I will attach link to someone who created a work around, it is not overly complicated, but is not necessarily beginner friendly. Overall the easiest thing to do would be to just add another step, which would be to hit windows button and p and always make sure its on duplicate.
