I'm convinced people that who spend more time doing serious mental computing expend much more energy as well. No different then a high spec'd computer burning thru energy / producing heat.

So humans left to over eating, under exercising, and not using their brain are severely in a calorie excess. Anyone who finds themselves in a serious run of mental activity knows how much more tired they feel at the end of the day.
