You need to be repeatable for accuracy. I pack hay into a 5 gallon bucket in 3-4 “lifts” (put hay in and pack it down) then I put one foot in the bucket and stand up (lots of pressure) and stick the probe in. Usually that’s 1 point dryer testing than my round bales. On round bales never go in from the face, always the round side. Not sure on square bales.
