Subject: Trimble auto pilot engagement

Southern Mn
I’ve got Trimble auto pilot installed in a case ih 8920 mfwd tractor. It’s controlled by a CFX750 and Nav 3 controller. To engage I’ve got a momentary switch mounted on the console forward of the pto switch.
Occasionally it’s a real pain to get the auto steer to engage, it will constantly trip out. Seems to make no difference when it will do it, sometimes it works perfect if you engage it halfway around a turn, about as early as you can. I generally have it close to lined up be fore I engage. Seems to be no real good reason why it kicks off.
I’ve got my “disengage” setting fairly high, takes a decent jerk off the steering wheel.
Is there anything I can do to get it to work better?
Of course as I type this, the last 2 turns, it has worked perfect.
Thanks.
