Kansas | I was in a similar spot 15 years ago.
Sold the planter and box drill and bought an air drill and hired the corn planted. My planter man had the most experience and up to date machine. I bought a fertilizer trailer to go with his planter.
Worked great for both but both operations continued to grow so I bought a planter a couple years ago. I even planted some for my old planter man.
Having a dedicated dinosaur 4 wd is nice for the drill. It’s always ready to go for custom acres that way.
I did alfalfa, wheat, milo, soybeans, sudan, millet, and even canola once with the air drill. | |
