Iowa | In our circle there’s been a couple of these lately. Most of them are like wife and I- around 20 years of marriage- but that’s our peer group too. I think the world events of the last few years have increased anxiety which causes people to look for “fixes”, whether that’s God, another companion, addiction, space. People are looking for a place to feel safe - many people (myself included) look at the world we live in today and it feels like a foreign country. There’s a lot of hidden fear and anxiety out there, and human instinct is to fight or leave - neither of those options helps a marriage. It’s a good lesson for all of us to look at what our spouse may be going through. | |
