Its out of time.
Backlash in the drive train. Maybe the base of it slipped as you tightened it up.. Might not have gotten it quite right the first time around and didnt even know it.
And just what did you have to "shim up" on that pump?


I didn't "shim" anything, I had to shimmy/wiggle it around to get it to set in place/the hash marks on the pump weren't exactly lined up when I reset it.... Maybe that answers the question as to why I can't get them to line up now.

It's off, but of course I busted the flange when I put it in the shop vise. So I went inside to drink beer. Hopefully someone can weld it better than I can so I don't gotta get a new pump.
