Subject: RE: Hills effect on tractor capacity

Walla Walla, WA
There is an area around Prescott, WA called the Sky Rockets that has an area so steep that they would seed wheat with a D5 cat pulling 3 JD 8200 drills straight down the hill as it would not pull it up the hill nor could they sidehill it! Now thank God it is in CRP! I have seen experienced combine operators quit as 80 bushel straw was so slick that a Cat and a heavy disk was run on the downhill side of the combine so that when it slid out of the cut the tires could dig in and stop sliding! The standard joke was when the Hillside combine was leveled out and your water jug still slid across the cab floor, then it was Steep!. Size does matter. Paul
