To me flat is 2-3% slope gently rolling is long slopes with absolutely no drainage issues and hilly is steep slopes where when baling with a adequate size tractor on flat ground you loose 30-50% of your speed when going up hill compared to on the flat. When I first moved up here my wife's cousin sprayed for us with a pickup and said that back field was kind of interesting, "going thru the ravine all he could see going up the other side was blue sky!" , while we have some hills here they are not big like when you get south of Eau Claire and further into the driftless region.
