Cutting the hay is the expensive part. Burns more fuel, and cutter lasts half as long as a baler. A good cutter today is about the same price as a baker. And a set of knives cost what netwrap does.
Plus more fuel being burned and more passes in the field.
Cutting also takes much longer and uses more fuel than the other operations in making hay. I use a 10ft moco and ted, rake and bale. 3 moco passes with one pass of each. I priced out trading my 10 ft 630 moco for something wider...i will be staying with my 10 ft 630. |
