North of London
It might not have been available for the '68 crop but the '67 crop year got the ball rolling to cone up with an insurance program.

I quit buying it for a number of years after the '77 crop.
Had an excellent crop of edible beans. Harvested 1/3 of my crop and hit the yield guarantee then bean board did not pay anymore than 1st payment because of contracts that they could not fill and those who did not harvest when they could plowed down their crop, some of which was still salvageable, and got paid more than those of us who harvested out insured yield.

Then there was the wheat that was flown on to seed and they would not insure unless you 'covered it'.
Some flew seed on and disked lightly to cover, got insurance and collected because they killed the crop disking it in.

Lost faith in insurance after that for a while.

Think I only collected twice in all the years I have had it
Whatever year aphids hit soys and got reseeding on 1 field of soys that got hit with pounding T storm right after planting.

But i keep insuring and questioning why I spend the $$ on it
