coast of Maine | Here they are 99% NOT on a footing based slab.Lots of trailers sold here ..One friend in my town is a large dealer of single and double wides.Sell an avg of 8 units a week.Almost zero are on anything but a slab or packed gravel. Most winter insulated homes have no need for anything but cold air beneath the trailer.Pipes are interior,up right water lines are covered with insulation and a heat tape.Fuel oil is primary heat source here.No one heats the crawl space and nearly none are insulated now.Moisture goes out side vents along stub walls. A cold dead air space is what they want,,heave away as it wont hurt a thing. Here most trailers with a lot sell for 250,000$,,crazy as heck.Friend has 300,000 $ in double wide on a slab,,already owned the lot,,,The septic heat is supposed to keep those pipes for waste flowing,,yes when we get a cold winter trailers are frigged when power goes out. | |
