Ft. Ripley MN
We have been getting some rain so far…. Not banking on a bumper crop. Going off of what we were able to raise last year and plan on that this year. More acres went into corn silage… for not having any rain we grew quite the corn crop. Bale straw behind the neighbor, I’m gonna try and get my name down for every bale he will let me have. Trying to bank a years feed off those two things and in theory if it rains we will have a triticale and hay crop. I’ll either have a years worth of feed or look like a fool who overreacted with two years worth of feed….

Hay inventory will be just as short as last year. There was a lot of cattle and hay guys who skipped fertilizer application this spring…. It was a painful check to write when your not selling $8 corn but this isn’t the year to be skimping on crop inputs with short feed inventories.

A betting man would say there will be more cows going to town this summer and fall then I think people realize….
