Subject: Re: Rod for vertical welding

Welding will bring out differing opinions in all people, kind of like a pool game in a bar, best place for differing opinion.......... the 6011 is a fast freeze rod and I have found that it works quite well in the verticle and overhead welds..... sure it does spark and sizzle a lot more and has a tendancy to light your hair on fire but they seem to work for me quite well with either AC or DC, whipping is what I call burning in the rod and then letting the weld cool for a millisecond and then back in again, some may say that the weld will be contaminated and will not be as strong but I don't have too many break on me, it does allow for deep penetration without the burnthrough

Caveat...... I am not a professional welder , I am a farmer who welds to save $$$ and get my ass out of a sling at times......
