I have really good luck with RTV automotive type silicone. It doesn't leak if the fittings move just a little, and it cleans off well if you need to re-do it sometime. I need to look into this rector seal stuff, haven't tried it. I won't give you $.01 for Teflon tape on poly or pvc.
