Somerville, Indiana
We installed the staggered closing discs to break up the soil above the seed, added the heavier down pressure spring at the same time. The pin above the closing discs wears faster now. Pin goes in the back hole for no till. Tube inside the downpressure spring wears an elongated hole that needs filled in every few years.

There are several updates from 800 to 955. If working ground and no tilling also, the quick change down pressure linkage on the 955 is nice. Larger marker disc is an update: 16 inch blade with 1 inch shaft bearing.

Staggered closing discs with adjustable down pressure is the best single addition we have done with our 800. Looks like roto tilled seedbed in no till, but needs a lot of downpressure to accomplish that. We run row cleaners in early April, as the ground warms we take them off. In hill ground anything we can do to prevent water running down the row is a big plus.
