Measure voltage at the coil terminal with the switch on.   Heat is normal.   Low pressure cause can be loss of movement on the valve plunger, turn on switch use a small screwdriver in the bottom hole of the valve to feel for proper movement.   The valve should produce crisp snap sound when working properly, dull thud or lost motion means remove coil and clean the plunger top and spring.   Proper voltage / wire sizing are important, it might work ok at first but after running some time switches and connections heat up and lose conductivity.
