| We have a 625 model JD platform that we use for harvesting 15-inch row beans. We plant most of our beans into no till cornstalks which leaves many cornstalks still standing at bean harvest time. In our contoured, terraced environment we would like to be able to plant and harvest different directions -- planting up and over the terraces while harvesting required running with the terraces. The problem this creates is that the standing corn stalks push the bean plants over and they don't get cut off. Not sure how much yield we are losing, but sure makes the field look messy when done.
We have tired various combinations of guards, sickles, etc. and nothing really seems to matter very much. Has anyone else ran into this and what are you doing or would you suggest doing about it?
Thanks
Darin
