Nth New South Wales Australia | What you probably have there are PRO-PAR axles that were common on Fruehauf trailers,I have two tipping grain trailers with these and have had good service.I run grease in them along with a splash of gear oil that keeps a slurry in there but won't leak past the seals much if at all.The PRO-PAR hubs use two equal sized bearings and take a lot of preload, unlike the hubs that have a smaller outer ,larger inner bearing set-up.If you jack up the axles and can't get any major movement, leave them alone. If the spindles are worn like mentioned above they will last for awhile but eventually will need building up and turning back or just replaced.Replacing now "here"with a new hub to hub axle runs to less dollars than the labour involved in builing up and turning down as also invariably brakes will need work on the older units too. |
