Many years ago an engineer for a short-line ag equipment maker told me that a patent is only worth what one is willing to pay to protect it.
No one is going to do anything unless it is worth the cost of legal fees to resolve the differences, and lawyers are expensive. And what a farmer does with a product after he legally purchases it is pretty much his business.
