We have an 1850 drill that we were happy with, but now with narrow firming wheels from Needham and Thompson closing wheels, we are VERY happy with how it puts them in the ground.
Do you have any problems with the Thompsons not closing the seed slot, in slightly wet conditions? I have them on my 1890, and they work great when conditions are dry, but when it is the least bit wet(of course some is clay soil, but other is sand), they won't close the slot properly. I keep thinking I should put my cast iron wheels back on, as I know they would close the slot when its a little wet.
