Check the oil filler cap and gasket, a briggs must have a vacuum in the crankcase. an air leak at the oil fill cap / tube will make them burn oil. Not as common, the oil seperator /crank breather can go bad (bad check valve or clogged oil return holes in the breather will put engine oil in the breather tube and into the carb.
