Alberta, Canada | Not only the grain guys are getting out of it, but many of the beef and pork guys too. Just in 2008, beef numbers dropped 100,000 head in Saskatchewan alone. May of 2008 I was told by the owner of NBI (one of the bigger cattle auction marts in Alberta) that cattle numbers were already 1/3 less than the previous year, with projections reaching 1/2 the previous year by 2009. I'm curious to see how accurate that turned out to be....
There use to be 6 cattle farms within 1.5 miles of us. Now, the closest one is about 7 miles away. Lots of _,000acre grain farmers though. | |
