Subject: RE: Monsanto not treating seed anymore this yr

North Central Iowa

I asked my father in law about this today.  He said they are still treating seed at his plant, but that there are a few varieties that they don't treat because they don't take it very well (reduced germ).  Apparently they have found that a few of the varieties are more susceptible to damage and they won't treat them.  I know that other areas of the country are dealing with greatly reduced germ compared to what we are lucky to have this year in Iowa, so that may have increased the problem for everybody.  Every extra time handling the seed can be a problem.
