Recently purchased a PCMCIA to serial adapter and had same problems.Worked w/ some equipment and not others.After talking directly to manf.,found that some adapters "emulate" a serial port,and others provide a "real" port.Depending on what you need, the "emulated" port may work fine.Purchased a adapter from "QUATECH",and works for all my needs.
