Feedlots and back grounders are going to weed out or try to buy calves cheaper, thus the cow calf person needs to background his own and maybe even grass finish them out.


I would say they are always trying to do that. I don't think just because the prices are high anyone wakes up in the morning and says "well, I think today I am going to go buy some calves for the highest price I can today."


Maybe even do what Jim does by grazing corn and selling to packers or who ever.


He's not the first person to ever try that. There is a reason it isn't more popular than what it is.
