Chilliwack, British Columbia | The car seats with bases are really good, like someone said, if the baby is sleeping, is nice to let them sleep. Buy a good stroller. You don't need one that comes with a car seat for it to fit.
We bought a Graco set, and it is fine. However, it don't handle dirt/gravel very well. For us, we don't live on the farm. If the Mrs. brings the kids over, it is hard to push through the field. We ended up with a Safety First from Costco, a 3-wheel "jogging" stroller. It worked better, but still a struggle to push. When number 2 came along, we spent the money on a BOB double stroller. Big and awkward, but both kids are comfortable, and rolls through the fields with ease. Also has an attachment that lets us put the Graco car seat on the one side. You hardly know you are using it.
Good Luck, there is lots of stuff out there to look at. Best thing we did was found a local owned store (still 1hr away) that competes with Babies-R-Us, and are way more helpful, and actually priced better. ITs nice having help that actually know what they are talking about.
