Yes,they do listen and update the firmware for this stuff,sometimes several times a year. I can't speak for other brands where I have no experience,but Trimble makes it simple so almost anyone can download new firmware and install it from the home computer.
when I got the first EZ Guide plus lightbar 2 years ago,the firmware was not very adaptable to my odd shaped fields with many potholes. It was easy to confuse the thing into thinking you turned the opposite direction if you had to make a figure 8 turn to avoid an obstriction,and often got lost while working around potholes,but every update made it more forgiving and added features that really slick up the operation. This 4th and latest update(3.10) really makes the things work nice for seeding and spraying. Now if they would only make it store waypoints so I could go back and find the rocks and other things for spraying and after seeding cleanup. 8)
