Guidance stuff we have knows how to drive sprayer for A-B lines real good. It's less good (or more bad) driving sprayer on curve paths so we try to set up field for A-B spraying, if possible. If we have to use curve path guidance we are very careful to drive the reference curve swath for smooth curve. Curve path guidance errors seem to compound when the reference curve has 'wiggles'.
If we were spraying the field in your graphic, we would start by spraying the headland passes you show as green, same as you said. Then we would deadhead to point you show as A, set A where you set it for first A-B line, spray the swath you call swath 0, but we would continue spraying and not set B until we reached the southernmost headland pass. Then we would spray entire field using that A-B line as reference. Guidance screen will tell you when you are in headland. We use boom section switches to reduce overlap/skip when spraying near the headland section that is not running north-south (not parallel with A-B reference swath). Sometimes that gets 'tricky' but if guidance is driving sprayer we do have time to watch guidance screen and flip boom section switches. It's easier if you are good on piano keyboard and can think pretty fast ;) |
