Subject: RE: Value of Rye Cover With Soybeans

West Central Indiana
Covers definitely aren’t for everyone, but it’s taught me how to be more patient with planting. I use to deal with fields by just doing multiple tillage passes, then I’d constantly have problems with losing moisture or crusting over after a big rain. Minimal till/no-till helped with some of my problems but yields weren’t really going way up until covers.
This statement is gonna sound crazy but I’m starting to value my cover crops over installing field tile on my wetter timber soils.
