My 2 cents... I'm not seeing a soybean yield advantage year in and year out, but we continue to plant them for erosion control and feed. Still not 100% covers prior to beans, and I'm not interested in doing it before corn. The few folks that tried it with corn, didn't do so for more than a couple years. However, I am starting to think there's a corn yield advantage the second year after the cc/soy. The residue is mostly broke down by then, but still provides a bit of a thatch to conserve water. The clay soils also seem more mellow and farm easier having had cc 2 years prior.
