Subject: RE: for the northern sheep guys - - - re: waterers

If I were selling to you I and there is any concern what so ever I would recommend to go with single Jugs and add the auxiliary string heater for 40ish dollars about another 42 watts besides the 65 watt standard heater, the string heater can also be added at any time. Reason I say singles if you are concerned is that all the waterers have the same heater, but doubles have 2 bowls vs. one so roughly double the heat loss. I earlier in the post you talked about having a very high water table affecting how well earth tubes work. I can tell you this, the double I have out in the open no protection what so ever with 17 head on it this year has not iced over yet, we have not been as cold as some of you guys 8-9 in the morning we have been in the single digits below zero only and I did put a 42 watt string heater in it 4-5 years ago because of the wind there. That being said if the bowl ices over it is not a big deal, just gently pop the ice with a for handle and it slips out water comes up into the bowl again and you are in business.
