Virginia, Northern Neck | We upgraded from that type of Cuisinart (freeze the container in your freezer) to the Cuisinart with the compressor/condenser/evaporator.
It only takes up 11 inches (wide) of counter space, and after it makes the ice cream, it keeps it frozen for as long as you like.
It is an amazing machine, we make a lot of ice cream using fruit and berries we grow.
Only thing to watch out for, if it is in ice-cream-making cycle, you need to let it finish.
If you stop it part way, the drive system (some kind of clutch, might be magnetic) does not start turning again with a half-frozen load.
