Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Your momentary switch might be unreliable. You must hold it in for a bit and then engagement should take place when you release. I would try another switch or just touch the two wires together for a bit and then release to simulate a switch.
Your override might be working against you. The system should indicate when the override has taken over by a note on the screen. At least on my 750 with a Nav II, one of the screens tells me if auto steer is allowed, if I'm turning the wheel, it won't engage and there is a message to that effect.
