I use QB desktop that's about 4 years old and don't upgrade, but don't use payroll. They work hard at making it look like you have to upgrade.
I used to use some programming software that was $25K to purchase, plus maintenance fees. The boss was really PO'd when he found out the software would quit working altogether if you didn't pay the maintenance fees. They hadn't told him that.
