The best thing we can do to keep the good ones teaching (a lot of them go off to something else) is make sure they are appreciated.
You got that right. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was in middle school, and I was for two years. I quit because it's a thankless job 99% of the time. I miss coaching, and I thought I would really miss teaching, but I never really did. Still have my license, though I've been out too long to get seriously considered for a job. (I quit about 8 years ago.) Oh, and as for the topic of the thread, I have sent notes to a few of the good ones, and they seemed to really appreciate it. |
