Subject: deere 6.8L engine losing prime

Woodham, Ontario
Have a 2003 jd 544H payloader with an engine similar to a jd 7410 tractor which is has problems starting in the morning. It is usually fine afterwards. When you start it for the first time it will usually sputter and keep going, but sometimes it will stall. If I prime the system with the hand pump and open the bleedscrew by the fuel filter there will be no bubbles and it won't start. If I open the fuel lines by the injector it will start. Looks like there must be a leak somewhere after the filter. Where do I start looking?

Update:
This afternoon I tried staerting it and it stalled right away. After cracking open the injector lines it started again. Did not use the manual pump.
